Gmail Add-on Installation
The Fabius Gmail Add-on provides the interface to view and use AI-generated email drafts directly within Gmail. This guide covers the installation process and initial setup.Prerequisites
Before installing the add-on, ensure you have:- ✅ Connected Gmail in Fabius settings
- ✅ A Gmail or Google Workspace account
- ✅ Permission to install add-ons (may require IT approval)
Installation Process
Step 1: Access the Marketplace
- Go directly to Fabius in Google Workspace Marketplace
- Note: Fabius is not yet searchable in the marketplace, so you must use this direct link
Step 2: Handle Beta Access
During our beta period, you may see access restrictions: If you see “Access Denied”:- Contact your Fabius representative to request installation access
- Provide your Google email address
- Installation permissions are granted on a per-user basis
- This warning is expected during beta
- Click Advanced (bottom left)
- Click Go to Fabius (unsafe)
- This is safe and expected behavior
Step 3: Install the Add-on
- Click Install
- Select your Google account
- Accept the required permissions:
- Read your email messages
- Create draft replies
- Access basic profile information
- Click Allow to grant permissions
Step 4: Verify Installation
- Open Gmail
- Look for the Fabius icon in the right sidebar
- If not visible, click the ”+” icon to see available add-ons
- Pin Fabius for easy access
First-Time Setup
Authenticate in Gmail
- Click the Fabius icon in Gmail
- Click Sign In when prompted
- Complete authentication with your Fabius account
- Return to Gmail to start using the add-on
Test the Connection
- Open an email from a CRM contact
- Click the Fabius icon
- Verify you can see account information
- Look for any draft suggestions
Using the Add-on
Viewing Drafts
When you open an email from a CRM contact:- The add-on automatically loads relevant data
- View AI-generated draft responses
- See account and contact context
- Access related tasks and notes
Inserting Drafts
- Select the draft you want to use
- Click Insert Draft or Update Current Draft
- The text appears in your Gmail compose window
- Edit and personalize as needed
- Send normally through Gmail
Managing Tasks
The add-on also displays tasks from email analysis:- View automatically created tasks
- Mark tasks as complete
- Create new tasks manually
- Sync with your CRM workflow
Permissions Explained
The Gmail Add-on requests these permissions:Email Access
- Read emails: To analyze content and generate drafts
- Create drafts: To insert suggested responses
- No sending: Cannot send emails on your behalf
Profile Access
- Basic info: To authenticate your Fabius account
- No password: Uses secure OAuth tokens only
Data Handling
- Only processes emails from CRM contacts
- Encrypted data transmission
- No training on your personal data
- GDPR compliant storage
Troubleshooting
Add-on Not Appearing
Check Installation:- Go to Gmail Settings → Add-ons
- Verify Fabius is listed and enabled
- Refresh Gmail if needed
- Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
- Disable conflicting browser extensions
- Clear browser cache and cookies
- Use incognito/private mode
Authentication Errors
“Sign In Failed”:- Ensure you’re using the correct Fabius account
- Clear browser cookies
- Try signing out and back in to Fabius
- Contact support if issues persist
- Verify Gmail OAuth is connected in Fabius settings
- Check your internet connection
- Try refreshing the add-on
No Drafts Showing
Verify Setup:- Confirm Gmail OAuth connection is active
- Ensure sender is in your CRM
- Check that email requires a response
- Wait up to 5 minutes for draft processing
- Refresh the add-on panel
- Verify sender is a CRM contact
Performance Issues
Slow Loading:- Check internet connection speed
- Close unnecessary browser tabs
- Restart Gmail if needed
- Refresh Gmail page
- Disable other Gmail add-ons temporarily
- Contact support with error details
